Is break really over already.  I have barely had time to process that i have no more school and that all the class that i have taken are over and i am now going right back to school.  There was almost no time to take a breath of fresh freedom before i am back.  No real time to reconnect with old friends just almost a quick drive by of how are you how is life what are you doing for the summer and then we part ways for another 3 months.  But i can alway hold on to the prospects that summer is around the corner and 3 months of freedom are ahead.

As I was sitting in the crowded floor watching at slims watching a pink panther cartoon on the screen waiting for Minipop i could not contain my excitement for the show.  Slowly the screen lifts and behind it are the four members of Minipop playing on stage waiting to play for us.  The stage was smoky and and blue light created a soothing atmosphere for them to start playing.  From the first note that they played i knew that this is where i needed to spend my saturday night.   What a great up-and-coming band from the San Francisco Bay area.  First heard of them in an indie festival and was anticipating this album all summer.  Definitely worth the four month wait for their debut album 'A New Hope'. It's exactly what I was anticipating.  The Band builds an atmosphere that is saturated with textures.  One on top of the other creating a mood of floating through space and then landing in this land of your dreams.  When you can finally look up to the heaven that you have been flying through and see this and you step back and look finally be able to enjoy this atmosphere that they have created for you.  Tricia Kanne voice is piercing and acts like your guide through this land of your dreams.   Her soothing and dreamy voice is what made this album have a step up above many other bands that attempt to great this same atmosphere.  The guitars push the song forward like the driving force of this journey and keeps you wanting more.  Overall an album that you will listen to more and more.  The more you listen to it the more you start to realize what they are trying to tell and with each listen you will discover something new that the album has to offer.

As 2007 comes to a close and i listen to BOB BOILEN discuss his favorite albums of the year with all his music loving friends i started to think what were my favorite albums of the year.  For the first time i am actually on top of what albums came out this year and who is doing what and i can actually legitimately say what i think were this years best albums.  First of all as everyone might guess one of the best if not the best album to come out this year was In Rainbows.  I remember waking up in the morning and daniel told me i could download the CD and i decided to gamble and pay 5 pounds for the CD.   That was definitely one of the best things i did and this album is just amazing in my opinion up there with Ok Computer and when you mix the two of them then forget about it.  The next would have to be Jens Leckman with all his  melancholy lyrics contrasted with up cheerful and light beats.  A great album to listen to on a cold rainy day where all you want to do is sit inside and listen to music.  Beirut was also one of my favorite albums of the year i love the Baltic sound of the whole album and his voice is indescribable but i love it there is something in the way that he articulates the words that just hooks me in.  When i first listened to the song fireworks on all songs considered i was hooked to the sound of animal collective.  Since i discovered this album i have been going further into the genre and liking what i find but nothing as much as i like animal collective.  Those are in my opinion the four albums that stood above the others in a good year in new albums.

Finally i was able to customize my live journal page that took forever and trying to relearn how to work myspace was also a challenge but finally i am done and it all looks the way that i want it to.  I really don't know what the point of this but i think it would be good just to write my ideas down somewhere so that my writing will someday improve and i could actually write something good.  Lets see yesterday i went to a concert with Daniel and Sab it was cool i like going to these kinds of concerts because everyone is just happy to be there and happy to have people there to watch them play.  I never really new but there is a community within Santa Cruz that listen to all the same band and all hang out together it was crazy to see cause they all knew each other.  They all were also wearing the same things and they all looked different but they were all the same all the same hair cuts and shoes.  They were all white and came from the same background but why were there no people of color i mean i went to a Youssou N'Dour concert on Wednesday and it was just amazing to see how many different people were there.  There were Africans who came to see him there were little kids and there were hippies every type of people that would like music.  What about this scene that doesn't  attract other races of people like you go to a rap concert you will see all kinds of people you go to a jazz concert again there will many people in many different backgrounds.
